"IGM", stands for "Injection Molding Machine". The feeder will trigger when the material has reached its set speed and pressure. Once the material is fed into the mold cavity it will cool and solidify into the final mold design.

A dry injection molding machine operates much like the first injection molding machine, only instead of the material being fed into the mold cavity, it is discharged into the end product. Instead of the material cooling and solidifying into the final mold design, it will start out with an initial molten plastic material. The machine will trigger once the plastic cools and becomes malleable enough to be used.

The differences between the two machines are most noticeable during the initial operation of the injection molding machine. In the first process the plastic material is continuously fed into the mold cavity, and this continuous feeding motion will continue until the plastic reaches the set speed and temperature. Once the plastic material reaches this set point, the cycle will cease and another injection molding machine will be triggered to start the process over. This process will continue until the plastic material is cooled and solidified into the final mold design.

The injection molding machines have greatly improved the quality of many products, including auto parts, metal products, furniture, and consumer products. Because of the many uses of injection molding molds, there are many companies that use this technology in their manufacturing processes.
